Category: rock climbing shoes

Product Details: Origin: Imported Sole Material: Rubber Outer Material: Syn Flex Closure Type: Hook & Loop

About This Item: Stiffness: Medium Upper: Syn Flex Rubber: Science Friction 3.0 Asymmetrical Curvature: Moderate

Product Description: A performance-grade shoe with entry-level comfort! The compression-molded toe box allowed us to use our patented concave sole with an additional inset around the toe, increasing the performance and edging. The Rover also features an improved heel design; we've added more ridges to allow you to catch edges with a wider variety of angles. Overall, the Rover is a more durable shoe that produces 25% less waste than previous models.

Key Features: Years after the launch of the first Mad Rock rubber formula, our new Science Friction 3.0 compound marks a special milestone for the Mad Rock brand. After exhaustive research and a new production process originating in the USA, our new formula has distinctively different characteristics than our previous batches. More durable than any of our previous formulas, our new Science Friction 3.0 also boasts higher friction. This optimal balance is incorporated into our new mix by increasing the tear strength and the memory of the compound. Due to its unique characteristics and unparalleled performance, our new Science Friction 3.0 formula is used on our shoe components like the 3D Hooking Heel, 3D Concave Sole, as well as the soles in all of our rock shoes.

Our engineers have devised a way to make sticky climbing-grade rubber flow into the molds. Using this method has many benefits for climbing. Also, by using the molded parts, the foot has less material between it and the rock for greater sensitivity and the ability to articulate the shoe for better grip. Less labor, less waste means a more sustainable method for creating climbing shoes.

Our Science Friction formula was also incorporated into our new rand rubber mix. Higher friction and durability for the rand rubber is a testament to our commitment to performance and improvement in our rock shoe line. Enhancing the elasticity of the rand rubber was also a priority when developing the new rand rubber. As our new Science Friction R2 has greater give without the loss of performance, our new models feel extremely comfortable and sensitive, giving you that glove-like fit.

Our Syn Flex material is Vegan Friendly. This synthetic upper is both comfortable for all-day wear and hugs your foot shape for performance on your routes.

Tech Specs: Stiffness: Medium Upper Material: Syn Flex Closure: Hook-and-Loop Rubber: Science Friction 3.0 Midsole: 1.8mm Polyester Midsole Profile: Performance/Comfort Asymmetrical Curvature: Moderate

Upsize 1 full size to find your US size. The most important factor to consider when choosing any rock shoes is finding a pair that fits well. Remember that leather upper shoes are likely to stretch over time (mostly in lateral width), while lined and synthetic upper shoes are not likely to stretch much at all. Climbing shoe sizing varies from brand to brand and, just to confuse the issue, often from model to model within a brand. Use numerical sizes purely as a guideline. As a rule of thumb, the level of shoe discomfort increases proportionately to an increase in climbing "level". This is primarily a result of molding the foot into as firm and precise an appendage as possible in an effort to eliminate "roll" (due mainly to weak feet or the shoe is too big and rolling around your foot) and increase sensitivity (sensual feedback) and pinpoint control.

From the brand: Climbing is Our Passion. Mad Rock's goal from the start has been to offer the most sophisticated designs and materials at a fair price, and now more than ever our message of value, quality, durability, and climbing enjoyment rings true - so much so that our competitors are increasingly following our lead. We always thought that climbing should be enjoyed by everybody - and we aim to do that with the best gear at a fair price.

The Science of Friction: Science Friction 3.0 is our most durable rubber, while also capable of performing at high levels. See Shark III, Drone 2, and the Rover.

How did we get our start? Mad Rock began in 2002 as a small, climber-owned and operated company that made innovative, highly technical, and affordable rock climbing shoes. But it all started with our founder, Young Chu.

What makes our products unique? We embrace using the latest materials and technology to meet consumer demands while maintaining the high quality and innovative products that have put us on the map and in the packs of climbers around the world!
